With Sony's own unique MF Trinicon imaging tube, this device offered high-quality video with horizontal resolution of 300 lines. Its large-aperture lens offered a bright F value of 1.4 and optical zoom up to 6X.

The first video camcorder capable of recording video on standard 8mm videotape. The newly developed 250,000-pixel CCD was used as the imaging device, and with a motor-driven 6X zoom, the camera offered advanced image recording while weighing a mere 1.97kg.

This 8mm video camera was lovingly nicknamed the “Handycam.” This featherweight 790g model took the world by storm under the “Passport Size” marketing slogan. The first DV video camera. With a 3-CCD pickup device, this high-end model provided advanced picture quality comparable to professional models. This device was the first in its class to feature a DV interface.

New Passport Size digital video camera. This was the industry's smallest and lightest model and featured a 2.5-inch flexible LCD viewscreen.

Utilizing a MICROMV cassette led to size reductions measuring approximately 1/3 the mini-DV cassette in terms of cubic volume. With the additional incorporation of Bluetooth functionality, this “Network Handycam IP” was a compact, lightweight, and high quality camcorder that could be linked directly to a network without the need for intermediate connection to a PC.

This model utilized 8cm-diameter DVD as the recording media. The device featured ease of operation unique to DVDs, including the convenience of viewing scenes on the user's DVD player immediately after shooting.
