In February 2000, Sony obtained the certification under QS9000, a set of quality management standards required by the automotive industry, at its Japanese domestic plant (Sony Energy Devices) that manufactures such batteries as lithium manganese dioxide, silver oxide, button-type micro alkaline, lithium ion micro secondary batteries.
The QS9000 encompasses the entire set of requirements of ISO 9000 series and adds specific quality requirements of the automotive industry.
Sony Fukushima was certified under the ISO9001 and the addition of the QS9000 is for the purpose of upgrading ISO-based quality management skills of Sony Group and perfectly meeting the quality requirements from automotive industries that are going forward with global procurement strategies.
